Praise You in this Storm

Praise is something that is easy to do when things are going good.  But what about when we are in the midst of a trial?  It's hard to want to praise God for what he is allowing in your life.  I read in my devotional the other day something that really stuck with me. 

"When I can't praise God for what he allows, I can always praise him for who he is in what he has allowed." 

It goes along with what Casting Crowns says in their song "Praise You in this Storm".


I was sure by now
God you would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say “Amen”, and it’s still raining

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

I’ll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
Every tear I’ve cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm


God never promised us that life would be easy.  He did promise that he would always be faithful to us.  He has promised to supply our every need.  It may not come the way that we are expecting or wanting it, but he does provide.  It may be a financial or shelter provision.  Or is could just be the courage and strength to get through one more day.

Our goal should be to continue to keep our eyes on Him and trust that He is in control.  Praise Him for that.  Praise Him for never letting go of His hold on you.  Praise God for who He is.

• Unmovable
• Faithful
• Merciful
• Savior
• Healer
• Compassionate
• Provider
• Wise

Those are just a few of the things that we can praise Him for.   Let me leave you with a few verses of praise.  Pray these verses believing that He will be faithful to carry you through whatever trials you may be facing.

Psalm 36:5-7 "Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.  Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep.  O Lord, you preserve both man and beast.  How priceless is your unfailing love."

Psalm 13:5-6 "But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.  I will sing to the Lord, for He has been good to me."

Psalm 16:5-9, 11  "Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure.  The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.  I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.  I have set the Lord always before me.  Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.  Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure.  You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand."

Psalm 33:20-22  "We wait in hope for the Lord; He is our help and our shield.  In Him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in His holy name.  May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in You."
